I do not think any of the pictures show it well, but I recall the buttplate being metal. Serial number appears to be 7593 or 1593, forgot to check it when I had it in hand.

The plastic you see in the first picture is the original packaging the scope came in. I had this one in hand and it appears to be unfired. I do not know much about Mannlicher-Schoenauer rifles, but I have found a number of websites with some informaton. In fact, this rifle is available in almost every modern calibres.
